I was taking a bus up into North Austin to my new job as a Security Officer at the Dell plant.
This web Page is respectfully dedicated to the memories of Amy Ayers (13), Sarah Harbison (15), her sister, Jennifer (17) and Eliza Thomas (17).
As I rode along, I was reading a good book by Roger Zelazney called "Nine Princes In Amber".
Some time along the way as I was reading, I became aware of what I can only call a morbid heaviness to the air.
I tried to brush it off as just the weather but it would not go away. Finally, I looked at my seat mate
and point blank asked her, "Do you feel that?"
She just looked at me and nodded. It was then that I noticed our surroundings. We were in a strip mall/shopping center
which I had seen on the news. There was once a Yogurt Shop located here where four teenage girls had worked.
They were robbed, murdered and s/a on the night of December 6, 1991, then the shop was burned in an attempt to destroy the evidence,
but years later, advanced DNA and genetic genealogy matching linked the crime scene evidence to Robert Eugene Brashers,
a serial rapist and serial killer.
He committed suicide during a Police Standoff in Kennett, Missouri on January 13, 1999.
May they finally rest in peace.
